I did do a spin through "Knit from your stash" via Google and got worn out fast. It's such a great idea and I'm gonna do it except that if it's a Tuesday during a full moon and Elaan is having a sale.... I just don't GET it. Nobody is telling anybody to do this. It was presented by Wendy as "If you feel like you need to...." it wasn't a command from on high. But it's becoming a fad, and now people who honestly don't need to do this because their stash is six skeins of sock yarn feel compelled to explain themselves. This blogging thing can become a field experiment in mass hysteria at times.Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16862784896982818464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9120696498216284839.post-52962456156710542007-01-04T13:18:00.000-05:002007-01-04T13:18:00.000-05:00Trust me on this, they aren't going under, since t...Trust me on this, they aren't going under, since there are those of us that still can't resist. I can go into a LYS, not intending to buy a thing, and then I see a lovely lime green and suddenly, I must have it. And for every knitter who decides to knit from their stash, there is a new knitter tht can't resist buying. It will all be just fine.Gigihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447259843934565786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9120696498216284839.post-78671632497006765662007-01-04T09:24:00.000-05:002007-01-04T09:24:00.000-05:00Boy did you hit that nail on the head. I try hard not to fall into it but admit that I have fallen(particularly in that weight loss one).

Quite honestly I don't know why people are worried about yarn shops with this whole resolution thing anyway - by March most of the resolvers will have realized the resolution was nuts and will be back in full buying form ;) -
And, for those that posess enough yarn to keep them yarn happy for a whole year - congratulations.Cursing Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16525488337844130010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9120696498216284839.post-41494129356183401722007-01-04T08:00:00.000-05:002007-01-04T08:00:00.000-05:00Just shut up and do it became my motto last year. ...Just shut up and do it became my motto last year. Works for me! I pulled back on everything, esp. the blogging and the commenting. I decided to stick my nose in my own stash and make of it what I could. I couldn't be more content. You know, the me-too-me-too crowd only grows larger every year. Currently, it's the “I want to take better photos so let's make it a group thing” that is keeping me amused. Oy, JUST DO IT. It's not hard, it just takes time, patience and a bit of dedication.

Oh and the stash? I've been knitting the stuff I really want and giving away the rest. I'm not of the mind that just because I bought it, I have to knit it up. I figure if I could afford it in the first place and then could afford to let it sit for years, then I can afford to give it away. Truly freeing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9120696498216284839.post-21151662221017872402007-01-04T05:39:00.000-05:002007-01-04T05:39:00.000-05:00Me too Debi, I have entire projects I bought becau...Me too Debi, I have entire projects I bought because I really, truly planned to make them, and then put them aside for this other thing I really, truly planned to make, and on and on. One local blogger I read is absolutely terrified that her favorite LYS is going to go out of business because no one will buy any yarn in 2007 and that's just mean and soooo wrong!!!

My reaction--take a chill pill, sweetheart--even if 10% of all the world's knitters don't buy yarn this year, no one will go out of business.KatyaRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10723400590176209143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9120696498216284839.post-74642740971808155392007-01-03T21:38:00.000-05:002007-01-03T21:38:00.000-05:00I'm reading Hamlet.
