Oh Totally
But if Cousin C and my personal experience is an indicator, my most likely recreation is over sixty. Men, no matter how un-sexy, seem to think their target woman is 15 years younger than they are. I'm good with the significantly older man if he is also Harrison Ford. Otherwise, not so much. They are not so hot IRL, and I don't want to have to be in charge of his medication.
By the power of Demi and Cher, I am gonna find a younger (by this I mean within 10 years of my age in either direction) man.
The old guys I can pick like oranges.

The promotion and raise are starting to sound like smoke and mirrors. I hope I'm wrong.
Like you said, you don't want to be unemployed for as long as it would take you to ready and sell the house.
How about this. Continue pushing for the raise and promotion, and in the meantime get the house ready for the market. Hedge your bets.
If the promotion/raise doesn't come through by the time the house is market-ready, you know it's not going to. Time to start looking for something else and get the house sold.
