Mention Health Care

And the comments start catching the depressing stories of people struggling to deal with the financial as well as the physical cost of getting sick, or just the sheer, aggravating stupidity of having to pay through the nose to deliver a baby somewhere near where you actually live, instead of giving birth for the convenience of the insurance company. And I'm just a little backwater blog - imagine the stories Crazy Aunt Purl would get if she started ranting about this. And yet we accept the status quo and don't light torches and storm Congress, demanding that we do what every other industrialized nation manages to do. We pay far more than any other country on earth for health care and yet the quality of the care we receive ain't all that hot. This is something that has to be fixed, because it's crazy and wrong.

As somebody said somewhere in the last couple of days.
We can't storm the castle.
We might lose our jobs, and then how would we get health insurance?

You know, that's exactly right. And don't think that it doesn't cross my mind when I write something like this and think, "Hmmm, employers look for blogs." But I'm at the point where I don't care, I'll be happy to discuss my POV with any employer. Hell, I'm 49 tomorrow and a brain aneurysm survivor, anyone who hires me has to really want me. ;-)
